Home owners are once again being warned not to use anyone who does not hold a current authorisation to conduct plumbing, gasfitting or drainlaying work.
Recently an Auckland plumber was fined $2,500 for carrying out restricted plumbing work without a current authorisation.
And investigators from the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board found sixteen operators who were not qualified to carry out plumbing work in Auckland
Sanitary plumbing, gasfitting and drainlaying are regulated industries in New Zealand, and it is illegal to do this restricted work unless authorised by the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board (PGDB).
Backing its efforts to extinguish unlawful activity throughout local communities, the PGDB will be launching a new public awareness campaign.
The campaign will highlight the risks of choosing a tradesperson without the right qualifications.
Doing so can put families health and safety at risk, and it may also invalidate insurance policies.
