Home owners are once again being warned not to use anyone who does not hold a current authorisation to conduct plumbing, gasfitting or drainlaying work.

Recently an Auckland plumber was fined $2,500 for carrying out restricted plumbing work without a current authorisation.

Think you can put anything down your sink that will fit? Not so fast! Experts have disclosed a list of the items that you should avoid putting down the kitchen sink, even if there is a waste disposal unit underneath.

According to Daily Mail, taking care to put them in the bin instead of flushing them down the sink could help to prevent the build-up of enormous and disgusting 'fatbergs'.

If you have a waste disposal unit, a good rule of thumb is not to put anything down there that you wouldn't be able to chew through.

Tradespeople who get called in to fix costly renovation botch-ups is becoming a common occurrence. The worst culprits are renovators who have launched into additions without regard for restricted work, passing on costly problems to the next buyer.
